There is something for everyone, and you don’t have to wear a uniform or commit to a minimum amount of time per month. There isn’t an expectation that you are an ex-cadet or have any specialist knowledge, we can give that to you. We just ask that you are keen and eager!

If you don’t want to get directly involved in the running of Squadron nights, and Cadet training, then the Committee could be the place for you. They are a group of people who are there to look after the welfare of the squadron and all matters Money and Fundraising.

Civilian Instructor.
As a staff member this is where the journey often begins.
Often described as ‘The Backbone of the Air Cadets’ our Civilian Instructors(C.Is) are non-uniformed staff member, with no monthly time commitment. Your skills will be used where they most fit in and a lot of our C.Is are specialists in the area of training they deliver. Often, they weren’t when they first joined us! You also have the opportunity to get involved in most of the same activities as the Cadets, like C.I Stokes, seen here in a safety role during a Cadet Raft Building Exercise.

Uniformed Staff
If you have been a C.I and want to take on more responsibility, then consider our uniformed roles as either an Officer or Senior NCO. You will then be expected to wear uniform and maintain a minimum monthly commitment. There is opportunity for promotion and to progress through the ranks, in a similar way to the Royal Air Force. You will also be able to claim up to 28 days Volunteer Allowance.
